How to Fix Password Security Error

Step 1: Disable "Password must meet complexity requirements"


The first step is to disable the "Password must meet complexity requirements" setting in Local Security Policy. This setting requires passwords to meet certain criteria, such as containing a minimum number of characters, upper and lowercase letters, and numbers. To disable this setting, follow these steps:

  1. Open Run and type secpol.msc.
  2. In the Local Security Policy window, expand Security Settings > Account Policies > Password Policy.
  3. Double-click on the Password must meet complexity requirements policy.
  4. In the Properties dialog box, set the Enabled option to No (Disabled).
  5. Click OK to save your changes.

Step 2: Install RSAT


The next step is to install Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT). This tool allows you to manage Active Directory users and computers from a local computer. To install RSAT, follow these steps:

  2. Click on the Wi-Fi or Ethernet tab, depending on your network connection.
  3. Under Network discovery, make sure that the Turn on network discovery option is enabled.

Step 6: Change your IP address and DNS to static


Your IP address and DNS need to be static in order to use RSAT to manage Active Directory users and computers. To change your IP address and DNS to static, follow these steps:

  1. Open Windows Settings and click on Network & Internet.
  2. Click on the Wi-Fi or Ethernet tab, depending on your network connection.
  3. Under IP settings, select Static.
  4. Enter your IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway.
  5. Under DNS settings, select Use the following DNS server addresses.
  6. Enter the IP address of your preferred DNS server.
  7. Click on the Save button.

Step 7: Join your computer to the domain


If your computer is not already joined to the domain, you need to join it in order to use RSAT to manage Active Directory users and computers. To join your computer to the domain, follow these steps:

  1. Open Windows Settings and click on System.
  2. In the left pane, click on About.
  3. In the right pane, look for the Workgroup or Domain name. If the name is WORKGROUP, your computer is not joined to the domain.
  4. To join your computer to the domain, click on the Change settings link.
  5. In the Do you want to join a domain? window, select Join a domain and enter the name of your domain.
  6. Click Next and enter the credentials of a user who has permission to join computers to the domain.
  7. Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the joining process.
