Ever forgotten your WiFi password? No worries! This quick guide will show you how to reveal any saved WiFi password on your Windows PC using Command Prompt (CMD) in just three simple steps.
Steps to Display Your WiFi Password
Open Command Prompt as Administrator
- Type cmd in the search bar, right-click, and select Run as Administrator.
Enter the Command
- Type the following command and hit Enter:netsh wlan export profile folder=c:\ key=clear
- This command saves the WiFi profiles with passwords in plain text format on your C drive.
- Type the following command and hit Enter:
Locate and View the WiFi Password
- Go to the C drive, open the
.xml
file for the network you need, and find your password between the<keyMaterial>
and</keyMaterial>
tags.
- Go to the C drive, open the
That’s it! You’ve now accessed your WiFi password with ease.
